Topic Brainstorm or vicstorm

My Topics
Week 2

1. The first topic I would consider doing my weekly project on would be Mary Wollstonecraft and how her class as a women in the end of the 17th century. Mary started a new argument of the rights for women by exposing the mistreatment of women in society and explaining it as men trying to keep control over there women. She was of course aware, knowing that just because she was a women she would have to stand behind her words in her essay. Mary was attacked socially by people disagreeing with her and giving her no credit all her life. Also by outcasting her for having a child out of wedlock and everyone judging her. I am excited about this argument because this story is really interesting form many ways.

2. My next topic would be on philosopher David Hume and his interesting views. This part of the readings made me think of what this story is teaching me of history is that everything has a lot of opinion. Mr. Hume in his opinions explained that his views were only based on fact and he didn't believe in anything that couldn't be an observable fact. Then he turns around later in his view to say how disgusting and harsh slavery was but goes and sticks his foot in his mouth. I am excited by this topic because this topic made me think of all the things I can talk about in these readings.

3. In the third topic I can go next door in the readings and talk about Benjamin Franklin. Talking about Mr. Franklin shows a real connection between my life at this moment. In life everyone needs money and it is a way of life. But I feel that people of my generation and culture would do anything for a stack of Benjamin Franklin dollars, not knowing that he was a large slave owner. Showing large connect between me and Mr. Franklin. I am interested to talk about this to show how truly ironic it is that we still honor former people who accepted slavery and how he isn't even a president so why is he on our money.

4. In my last topic I could write about would be James Beattie and how his urges to challenge David Hume became truly amazing. This reflects that the time it was written is was all about debate and challenging one another. This also shows how slavery was just a topic of argument to Mr. Beattie and he felt it was wrong the things that David Hume said but it doesn't say he did anything to help fight slavery. This is exciting because it shows how important debate was and nobody thrust themselves in to actual action.
